Built for the Baltic Sea Circle Adventure

Every expedition starts with a dream. In this case, it was the ambition to complete one of Europe's most demanding adventure rallies: the Baltic Sea Circle, a 7,500-kilometre journey around the Baltic Sea without GPS, relying solely on a roadbook, a compass and true teamwork.

To prepare for this unique challenge, the owners entrusted Stefan Ramaekers with transforming their Toyota FJ Cruiser into a vehicle capable of handling extreme weather, long distances and complete self-sufficiency.

Engineering for Adventure

An expedition vehicle is about far more than looks. Every modification must serve a purpose.

Working closely with the owners, Stefan designed a practical and reliable setup tailored to the demands of the Baltic Sea Circle. The focus was on reliability, functionality and comfort during long days on the road and in remote locations.

The vehicle was equipped with carefully selected expedition equipment, including additional storage solutions, a roof rack, an auxiliary battery system, a diesel parking heater and a sleeping solution integrated into the rear of the vehicle. Every component was chosen to maximise reliability while maintaining the FJ Cruiser's legendary off-road capability.

Every Detail Matters

Building an expedition vehicle is always a balance between weight, functionality and durability.

Every accessory has to fit perfectly, every cable must be routed safely and every component needs to remain accessible for maintenance during long-distance travel. The objective is not simply to install accessories, but to create a vehicle that performs reliably in challenging environments where failure is not an option.

This philosophy has become a defining characteristic of Vikingworkx projects: thoughtful engineering combined with practical real-world experience.



Ready for the Journey

The completed FJ Cruiser successfully took on the Baltic Sea Circle, travelling thousands of kilometres through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Baltic States and Poland under demanding winter conditions.

The project demonstrates how careful planning, technical expertise and attention to detail can transform a capable off-road vehicle into a dependable expedition platform, ready to explore some of Europe's most remote regions.
